Education

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science in English from the University of Houston-Downtown in 1995 and her J.D. from South Texas College of Law in December 1998. She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in May 1999. Michelle received trial advocacy training in law school by participating in South Texas College of Law's moot court competitions and through the law school's advocacy courses. She also completed a summer internship at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston. A summer clerkship at an insurance defense firm made it clear to Michelle that her passion was in representing the interests of individuals rather than corporations or insurance companies. This desire led Michelle to the practice of family law.

Prior to moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Michelle worked at a large family law firm in Houston and handled complex family law cases, including highly contested divorces, custody disputes, and cases with high-net worth estates. In Houston, Michelle worked with and was trained by several of Texas' pre-eminent family law trial attorneys. She developed a commitment to exceptional representation and providing high-quality legal services. Her most rewarding experiences are found in bringing solutions to clients with complicated family matters such as complex financial issues, high-conflict child custody cases, and cases involving challenging circumstances.

Ongoing Legal Education and Training

Michelle has written continuing legal education articles and has spoken at numerous family law continuing legal education seminars throughout the state. Michelle also works to continually refine her trial and courtroom-advocacy skills. She was trained by top family law litigators, jurists, and forensic experts from across the country at the National Family Law Trial Institute’s litigation skills course.

Professional Memberships and Community Involvement

Michelle is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section, the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association, the Texas Bar College, and the Texas Family Law Foundation. In Southlake, Michelle is a member of the Southlake Chamber of Commerce.
